Governor Sarah Palin: A Champion for Brutal Aerial Hunting
Despite strong scientific, ethical and public opposition to aerial hunting, Governor Palin has…
• Proposed paying a $150 bounty for the left foreleg of each dead wolf.
• Approved a $400,000 state-funded propaganda campaign to promote aerial hunting.
• Introduced legislation to make it even easier to use aircraft to hunt wolves and bears.
Warning: This video is extremely disturbing. It contains graphic images of aerial hunting of wolves -- a brutal and needless practice that Governor Palin has fought hard to promote and expand.
As a supporter of Defenders of Wildlife, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of "aerial hunting" in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves.
This brutal program could be expanded to include bears and other wildlife -- and that the states of Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies.
That's why I'm asking you to sign on as a cosponsor to H.R. 3663, the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, introduced by Rep. George Miller. The PAW Act would end needless and cruel aerial hunting of wolves and other wildlife by closing a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act of 1972.
Aerial hunting is a horrific, unsportsmanlike practice that needs to end. Alaskans have twice voted to stop this policy, but the state government continues to allow wolves to be needlessly slaughtered from the skies. Nearly 800 wolves have been killed this way -- and another bloody season could start this winter.
The PAW Act will put Alaska's savage policy to an end -- and prevent it from spreading to the Greater Yellowstone region.
Please sign on to cosponsor this critical legislation today.
Thank you for considering my comments. I look forward to hearing from you on this important matter.
